SRI VARAHA LAKSHMINARASIMHA SWAMY, Simhachalam









It is situated nearly 20kms from visakhapatnam. The word Simha means Lion, Chalam means Hill. It got the name as because the hill appears in the shape of lion. The god over here is Sri Sri Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. This is one of the biggest pilgrim center of lord Vishnu.

This is the one and only Temple where the god is VarahaLakshmiNarasimha. There are a number of Lakshmi Narasimha Temples but what makes the difference is here the god is a combination of both Varaha and Narasimha Avatars.

The Swamy(god) is always covered with Sandal wood paste, and is replaced every one year on Akshaya Triteya. This is the biggest festival here and is called as Chandana Yatra or Nijarupa darsanam. On this day the old paste is removed after abhishekam of swamy and the devotees are allowed to pray after single coat is applied and will allow the whole day like that . After that the swamy is fully coated. In the temple there is a pillar named KappaStambam, devotees strongly believe that praying hugging the pillar their wishes are fulfilled.

The entire temple is built with rock and here we can find various styles of stone art and sculptures. There are many kings who developed the temple but Sri Krishna Devaraya is the main contributor.

To reach the hill top there are two ways one is by road and or by the steps way. There are other temples on the hill they are Lakshmi Narayana , Lakshmi devi, Shiva , Rama and Krishna. On the way to hill by steps at the starting of steps Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha idol is there and in between of the steps Anjaneya temple is there. In the downhill Bhairava swamy temple is at a distance of 5 kms in the middle of forest.

The devasthanam has constructed so many cottages, and running so many buses for devotees.



SRI KANAKA MAHALAKSHMI TEMPLE, Burujupeta

This is situated in Buruju Peta of OneTown Area. The god over here is Sri Sri Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Ammavaru. This is avatar of Goddesses Lakshmi Devi . This is the most Popular temple in north Andhra Pradesh. The main festival over here is in the Month of Margasira Masam (Telugu Month). In the month festival is celebrated and especially on Thursday s in this month
SRI SATYANARAYANA TEMPLE, iSUKAKONDA
This is the temple situated on hill top of hill named Isukakonda. It got facilities of reaching their by steps or by road which passes though the KGH hospital . The god over here is Sri Sri Sri Veera venkata Satyanarayana Swamy. The Main festival over here is on every Punnami (full moon day) devotees offer special pujas.

SAMPATH VINAYAKA TEMPLE,

It is situated near RTC Complex(bus station_) . The god over here is Sri Sampath vinayaka swamy. The main festival over here is on the occasion of vinayaka chaviti festival. This is so famous and devotees from far away places come here for gods blessings. And also devotees pray here before they start any new work.

PORT VENKATESWARA TEMPLE

It is situated in port area on a hill. The god over here is venkateswara swamy. This is one of the oldest temples in visakhapatnam and believed that it was constructed in the ruling of British’s. The god is also known as port venkateswara swamy as because of this temple is in port area.
DURGALAMMA TEMPLE, Poorna Market
It is situated in Purna market . Which is the popular market in visakhapatnam. The god over here is Goddess Durgalamma . here the idol of the goddessess is about 11 feet height. The main festival over here is at the time of Dusshera and shiva ratri

MADHAVADHARA

This is one of the area in the hill range of simhachalam . There are lord ahiva and krishna temples here. Here the main festivals celebrated are shiva ratri and krishna astami., Here the climate will be cool and pleasant. Here u can see the caves which were used by the kings and sages ,

SAGARA DURGA

This temple is in the port area. The god here is goddess durga . This temple god the name sagara durga beacause it is situated on the hill beside sea. In telugu sagara means sea. The main festival over here is in the days of Dusshera

LAKSHMI NARASIMHA

This is situated on a hill top of bhimili beach. The god over here is Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. This is one of the oldest temples in vizag. This is a vishnu temple in the avatar of narasimha along with lakshmi devi.
